CHARACTER OF MUSICIAN IN KAZUO ISHIGURO’S SHORT STORIES AND THEIR UKRAINIAN TRANSLATIONS

This paper addresses the issue of musician’s character in short stoires by Kazuo Ishiguor, a well-known British writer, and their translations into Ukrainian. The aims to define author-specific cognitive stylistic features construing musician depicting his verbal portrait, interpreting behaviour, emotions, actions through lens human personality. analysis resulted singling out systematising set key concepts conceptual metaphors, pertaining characters musicians Ishiguro’s five stories included “Nocturnes: Five Stories Music Nightfall”. Among these are LIFE, LOVE, FRIENDSHIP, MARRIAGE, MUSIC, SUCCESS, CAREER, etc. Within range metaphors that find manifestation texts under prevail those, which associated with various facets life, love, music. As result, several kinds were identified: global, e.g., LIFE IS conventionally used (local), MUSIC INSPIRATION, paradoxical, LOVE А FAREWELL, mirror-like, MUSIC– author’s (idiosyncrаtic) ones, A NIGHTFALL.
